The Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVS) exam syllabus is structured into four main parts: Part-I: General English and General Hindi, Part-II: General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Reasoning Ability, and Computer Literacy, Part-III: Perspectives on Education and Leadership, and Part-IV: Subject Concerned. The syllabus for the "Subject Concerned" part varies based on the specific position being applied for, such as PRT, TGT, or PGT. 

Part-I: General English and General Hindi

  • English: 

Reading comprehension, error correction, prepositions, tenses, active/passive voice, narration, sentence rearrangement, and vocabulary (synonyms, antonyms, idioms). 

  • Hindi: 

Grammar topics like संज्ञा, सर्वनाम, विशेषण, क्रिया, वचन, लिंग, उपसर्ग-प्रत्यय, पर्यायवाची, मुहावरे, समास, and संधि. 

Part-II: General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Reasoning Ability, and Computer Literacy 

  • General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 

History, geography, economics, Indian art & culture, current events, scientific research, awards, and books & authors. 

  • Reasoning Ability: 

Logical reasoning, analytical ability, problem-solving, puzzles, coding-decoding, and blood relations. 

  • Computer Literacy: 

Basic computer operations, MS Office, internet usage, digital literacy, and basic computer terminology. 

Part-III: Perspectives on Education and Leadership

  • This section focuses on pedagogical understanding, classroom management, and aspects of educational principles and leadership. 

Part-IV: Subject Concerned

  • This section is specific to the subject of the position (e.g., Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, etc.) and tests in-depth knowledge of that subject. For PGT positions, this part covers advanced concepts relevant to senior secondary education.
