The Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam, also known as the Engineering Services Examination (ESE), is a national-level competitive exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to recruit engineers for Group A and Group B technical posts in the Government of India's engineering services. The selection process involves a multi-stage examination, including a preliminary (objective) exam, a main (conventional) exam, and a final personality test (interview). It tests both the technical and managerial skills of candidates in their respective engineering disciplines, such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
